Dance Island

The legendary Dance Island. This place was once voted the best club in second life, had the highest traffic, 24 hour DJ schedule with a long list of DJ's, stand-by DJ's and trial DJ's and was even used in a RL trance video which featured on MTV. Nowdays, the club is less busy, however rarely found to be streaming radio even though it is open to party 24/7. This place truly is a 24/7 party place. However, it has been criticised for it's bots being used to boost traffic, a large noob crowd and a lot of drama filled resident clubbers. This was partly the cause of the club becoming less popular but in recent times there does seem to be a slight shift in the balance. Although not as busy as it used to be, the club is pretty much bot free, the DJ's are still spinning 24/7  and the music is some of the best tunes around. Either way, you'll always hear good tunes which tend to favour trance over softer house tunes.

The club itself was founded by Roxette Mabellon who herself can sometimes be heard spinning live from the club. Rezzing to the sim puts you in the middle of the mall, look ahead and past the palm trees and you'll see the large pyramid. Inside there is a large main dance floor with smaller stages spread around the DJ booth. The design itself is very open and has the feel of a majestic club. The music itself is it's main selling point. It highly promotes Trance which is not often found in most other clubs. Hard trance, uplifting, dream, it can all be heard here along with other styles. 

When I first rezzed in 2007 Dance Island was the No.1 club at the time. I myself had DJ'd to a sim of around 98 avatars. The place was always kicking, the banter between the clubbers was always great and the security there were quick to eject any screen spammers. DJ's like Audio Johnson and IceC001 Beaumont would expect a topal tip of approx 2000L$ for a two hour set.



It is yet to be seen if the club will ever go backto it's former glory. But it is still worth a trip to and it's not surprising that some of second life's top and busiest DJ's such as "Theartfullone Skytower" still have a regular DJ slot.

The name says it all. This place has a good range of styles from hard to funky house. The DJ's are always great to listen to with their many styles and constant supply of great tunes. Unlike most clubs, ENERGY CLUB give their DJ's an open stage to play whatever style they choose aslong as falls into the energetic, entertaining and pumping category. The good thing about Club Energy is that no matter what style is being played, there is always a good crowd. Whether it's hardstyle, house, techno, the club always has a good energetic crowd.

Landing in the sim places you just outside their main stage. You won't be heavily spammed with group invites or web links. You'll see the spread of shops opposte the main stage which appear well maintained and filled with a range of quality items. Even the logos look pretty cool. The club itself is low lag, lots of space on and around the dance floor with a few carefully placed seating areas. You'll notice the lack of noobs and zero bots which is always pleasing. The chat screen is filled with a mixture of banter and gestures. Nothing over the top. Just good high energy fun. It does have the feel or a more harder club than your typical beachy house party club. 

Based on the ENERGIES sim it is definately worth spending your time here.

Located on the Swiss Media Sim, the Scoutlounge is beach front, open planned and everything that is "summer party"

HISTORY - In February 2007, Lexx Runo founded the "MEC Trendscouts" to develope ideas and discover the potential in virtual worlds. The Scoutlounge was built as a meeting place for MEC Trendscouts. In November 2007 the Scoutlounge served the equipment and know-how for the official opening party at Swiss Mediawhich was to host the different projects of Mediaedge:cia SL. By May 2008 Linden Lab showcased the Scoutlounge as one of the top music places in Secondlife and in January 2009 won the "Ravelong Award - for the best DJ Club it Secondlife" award. In March 2009 the italian architect "Alkanos Smith" built the new Scoutlounge theree months before their new Soundcloud Podcast opened. The newly designed club was recently designed by German builder Anu Daviau.

NOW -  The Scoutlounge is as kicking as ever. There is a constant supply of well mixed and selected HOUSE music with tunes pumping out for about 12 hours a day. It's not always packed and the recent design seems a slight step backwards from previous designs, especially with the DJ booth in what seems to be a completely random location blocking the entrance, but it always attracts the top DJ's in second life so the tunes are always worth listening to. The clubbers like the club are colourful and stylish, the gestures will not fill your screen and the hosts will always keep you entertained. The management team are well structured with DJ Manager AJ Monday being one of many who will scout and cast a DJ before allowing them to play. 

When asked how their DJ selection worked AJ Monday replied: "there are dj applications... everyone has a chance to be dj here... that means we have public castings... with dj advisors... and other djs from scouts..."

To sum up the Scoutlounge; it's high quality, always HOUSE,  always draws a good crowd and it's always summer.
